SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Spring Training is back! Diamondbacks' pitchers and catchers report Monday to Spring Training for physicals and a workout.
They hit the field at 1 p.m., giving fans a chance to catch a glimpse of their favorite players.
Salt River Fields in Scottsdale is ready to go. Pressed jerseys hung in the team's clubhouse over the weekend. We spotted coaches in the gym early Monday getting conditioned.
Last spring, the D-backs went through intense drills and it sounds like there will be more of the same this season.
Manager Kirk Gibson sent a letter during the offseason reminding them.
"If they weren't in shape, they would have a tough spring, and if they were in shape, they'd have a tough spring," Gibson said.
Fans are encouraged to come to Salt River Fields to support the hometown team.
Admission and parking are free. Players were expected to arrive around 9 a.m.
Spring Training is expected to draw in hundreds of thousands of fans.
Last season, Salt River Fields set record attendance. Roughly 359,000 fans attended preseason games, according to David Dunne, Salt River Fields General Manager.
That's the most in MLB Spring Training history.
The Cactus League will hold its first game on March 3 when the D-backs take on the San Francisco Giants.
