SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Authorities say a Scottsdale home is a total loss after it caught fire Wednesday.
The first-alarm fire was reported around 4:15 p.m. near Hayden and McDowell roads.
Scottsdale Division Fire Chief Kerry Swick said when firefighters arrived they found the home well involved in fire.
Swick said the fire threatened neighboring homes, but the only damage to those were to the electrical boxes.
The home may have been under renovation as a couple of large dumpsters could be seen in the front yard.
Authorities said a witness reported that a downed power line started a fire on the roof, but Swick said it's not been confirmed if it caused the fire or the fire caused the line to fall.
Swick said one firefighter went to the hospital to be checked out for heat exhaustion.
Firefighters remain on the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Swick said the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
