FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - Authorities said southbound traffic on State Route 87 was restricted about 20 miles north of Fountain Hills after a commercial truck loaded with paper caught fire Thursday.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials said traffic was being rerouted to eastbound Arizona 188 to Globe and then westbound U.S. 60 to the Phoenix area.
Southbound traffic was getting around the fire scene by using the highway's left shoulder.
Fire crews were still trying to put out the blaze and cleanup was expected to continue into Thursday night.
The fire broke out Thursday afternoon. It isn't immediately clear what company owns the truck.
