FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - Officials say a toddler has died after being found in the backyard pool of a Fountain Hills home.
According to authorities with the Rural Metro Fire Department, crews responded to the home near Fountain Hills and Saguaro boulevards around 11:00 a.m. Friday when family members reported the child was missing.
When crews arrived the 2-year-old girl had been pulled from the pool and was not breathing.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office the child was found in a backyard pool. Officials say there was no fence around the pool; there was a sliding door and doggie door leading to the backyard.
The child was transported by ground to a Scottsdale hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
An investigation is under way.
