ANTHEM, AZ - A Valley veteran had the chance to ask President Barack Obama a question at a town hall meeting this week and he used the opportunity to try and help fellow veterans.
Wayne Kulick was selected by the social-networking site Linkedin, just last week, to ask a question at the California town hall meeting.
"I've briefed a lot of senior government officials before, but never the President," he said.
Kulick retired from the Navy in 2007 and used Linkedin to land his current job. He believes his frequent use of the site is one reason he was selected.
At the town hall meeting, Kulick asked how the government can utilize networking tools to help veterans find work when they leave the service.
"The hard part is translating your skills from a military-specific realm to a general sense that civilians can understand," Kulick said.
Kulick told ABC15 Obama proposed a "bootcamp" that helps veterans learn skills that correlate to the civilian market while allowing them to network with companies.
Obama even stopped to chat with Kulick after the town hall meeting to further discuss his question.
"I was very impressed that he took the time to spend 15 or 20 seconds talking to me about that topic," he said.
Kulich offered his own advice to veterans, saying social networking is a great way to help land a job.
