ANTHEM, AZ - Southbound Interstate 17 in Anthem has reopened Tuesday morning after a deadly accident.
The two vehicle accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday at Daisy Mountain Road south of Anthem.
According to officials, a woman drove up to Prescott to buy a new car with her mechanic.
The mechanic and woman drove in separate cars on the way back from Prescott, when the mechanic was hit by a speeding driver in an SUV.
The mechanic was killed in the accident.
According to authorities, the driver of the SUV tried to drive away but was tracked down by police and was taken into custody.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. He also had a warrant out for his arrest.
The woman who was driving in a separate car was not involved in the accident.
