ANTHEM, AZ - Police say a man was arrested for a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Monday in the Anthem area.

Sgt. Trent Crump with Phoenix police said the collision happened around 11 a.m. near 45th Avenue and Anthem Way, just west of the Outlets at Anthem.

The suspect who was booked into jail has been identified as 31-year-old Anthony Parrinello.

Crump said the victim, 42-year-old Carmelo D’Alessandro, was transported to a local hospital and died a short time later.

Investigators gathered information that led them to believe that D’Alessandro was intentionally hit, Crump said.

Police learned that D’Alessandro was involved in a verbal argument with Parrinello near a grade school before the hit-and-run.

The two then agreed to leave that location and meet up at a local business to settle the matter by fighting, Crump said.

D’Alessandro didn’t arrive at the location, so Parrinello went looking for him, Crump said.

Shortly after, D’Alessandro was found injured in the road. Some people who found him provided medical aid until fire crews arrived.

Parrinello was later spotted with his vehicle at a nearby park.

Crump said the vehicle looked like it was involved in a crash, and there had been attempts to clean it up.

Parrinello admitted to the altercation but denied his involvement in the hit-and-run crash, Crump said.

He was booked into jail on one count of second degree murder.
