ANTHEM, Ariz. - Hundreds of people lined up in Anthem on Sunday afternoon to honor a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty earlier this month .
The fundraiser called "Hands Across Anthem" was just one of several events in support of Deputy William Coleman's family.
Coleman, 50, was shot and killed January 8 while responding to a burglary call at an Anthem strip mall.
The suspect, 30-year-old Drew Ryan Maras , was shot and killed by other deputies at the scene.
Participants in Hands Across Anthem held hands in a human chain stretching east from the corner of Anthem Way and Gavilan Peak Parkway.
A procession included a full honor guard, a riderless horse, Coleman's widow and two young children, Coleman's closest co-workers and fire crews.
Proceeds from the sale of T-shirts and donations collected will help support the Coleman family, according to event co-founder Jerri Cottrell.
