PHOENIX - Convicted Anthem doctor Peter Normann has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in connection with the deaths of three of his patients.

Normann, 50, was found guilty of two counts second degree murder and one count of manslaughter after three patients died at his north Valley liposuction clinic.

Two patients died during liposuction procedures. Prosecutors said at times Normann had his janitor, mother and a massage therapist assist him in the surgeries.

One of those patients was Alicia Santizo who died from a surgical mistake.

Alicia’s son, Fray Arana, was on his way to vacation when he found out his mother would not make it.

Arana hoped Normann would get the maximum sentence.

“He has no heart," Arana said. "He just doesn't feel anything for anybody else but himself. That's selfish.”

Arana called his mother his best friend.

According to court documents, Normann had seven sessions where he learned liposuction, the same number of classes he took to learn hair restoration.

The three patients died in 2006 and 2007; Norman's license was revoked in October 2007.

Normann was arrested at an airport in Ohio in 2008 after he fled from Arizona. Police believed he had been hiding out in Germany.
