YUMA, AZ - A Yuma High School student is in custody for allegedly assaulting a school resource officer.
Yuma police say 19-year-old Omar McQueen was arrested about 10 a.m. Friday.
They say McQueen has been booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and possession of marijuana for sale in a drug-free school zone.
Police say the resource officer was investigating a possible drug offense and McQueen was taken to a school office and told he was under arrest.
They say he allegedly attacked the resource officer and had to be subdued by other officers using an electronic device to restrain him.
Police didn't immediately know Friday if McQueen had an attorney yet.
