YUMA, AZ - Police are investigating armed robberies at a Subway restaurant and a shoe store in Yuma Sunday.
Lt. Karla Simmons with the Yuma Police Department said officers responded to Amalia’s Shoes near 8 th Street and Avenue A for a report of an armed robbery around 4:20 p.m.
Simmons said a man entered the business, indicated he had a gun in his pocket, and demanded money.
An undisclosed amount of money was given to him and he fled on foot.
He is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s. He had short hair and was wearing camouflage pants and a shirt.
Officers responded to the second robbery at a Subway in the area of 16 th Street and Avenue B around 7:40 p.m.
Simmons said a man entered the business with a gun in his hand and demanded money.
An undisclosed amount of money was given him and he fled on foot.
This suspect is described as possibly being Hispanic with a Spanish accent.
He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and between 175 and 185 pounds. He was wearing a cap and face mask, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
Simmons said the robberies do not appear to be related.
