YUMA, AZ - Police in Yuma are looking for a suspect in a drive-by shooting who led sheriff's deputies on a short chase before jumping from his car just before it crashed into a canal.
Police Sgt. David Hartman says in a statement that a young man witnesses identified as Tyre Hendrix of Yuma was the man who fired several shots from a car early Sunday morning in central Yuma.
Yuma County sheriff's deputies spotted the Buick sedan and gave chase, but the driver jumped out and ran away as the car crashed into a canal.
Police say the driver escaped and officers are looking for Hendrix for questioning. He's about 21 years old.
No one was hit in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Yuma police.
