WICKENBURG, AZ - Authorities say a body found in a car last week in a Surprise pond has been identified as a woman who went missing in Wickenburg.

According to Wickenburg Chief of Police Pete Wingert, the body was positively identified to be that of 50-year-old Leigh Rae Donahue.

Donahue was last seen leaving her home last month in a 2001 Buick Century four-door sedan, Wingert said.

Nearly a month later on Sept. 8, Surprise police were notified of a vehicle in a golf course pond with a body inside.

It was reportedly discovered by a diver who was searching the pond for golf balls.

Surprise and Wickenburg police are continuing to work together through this investigation.
