TUCSON, AZ - An unidentified U.S. Border Patrol agent died in a car accident in southern Arizona Thursday, according to officials.
Police say the agent was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday morning after colliding with another vehicle while driving northbound on Federal Route 19 in Tucson.
The female driver of the second vehicle was transported to a hospital after suffering minor injuries.
"Border Patrol agents understand the inherent dangers of the job, but the loss a life under these circumstances leaves us all feeling lost," said Chief Patrol Agent Victor M. Manjarrez, Jr.
This tragic death is the second agent that the U.S. Border Patrol has lost this year.
Police say the agent will not be identified until all proper notifications to his family have been made.
