TUCSON, AZ - As authorities continue hunting for two Kingman prison escapees still on the loose, Vicki Walker of Tucson relives the painful memory of losing her husband and daughter.

They were murdered at the hands of convicted killer and escaped prisoner, Daniel Renwick.

"It's like 10 years, it just brings it all back," said Walker.

Renwick, 36, along with Tracy Province and John McCluskey slipped out from a private prison in Kingman on Friday. Renwick was convicted of killing Kara and Daniel Walker.

"I was scared and I was kind of in shock," said Walker. "And I just wanted to get away from my home where he knew where we lived."

More than 15 hours passed before Walker even learned of Renwick's escape. She was tipped off by her son-in-law in Washington who caught a clip on the national news.

Walker says it took Arizona's Department of Corrections 19 hours to notify her. The DOC says victims should be notified within three to five hours.

So what took so long?

"Our initial focus was to try and get resources and law enforcement involved to pursue the apprehension of them, and we, in fact, were tardy in notifying the victim," said Director of Arizona Department of Corrections Charles L. Ryan.

And Walker wasn't alone. The DOC didn't tell a Valley victim either. The man, who did not want to be identified, had no idea inmate John McCluskey also got away.

The victim accuses McCluskey of firing a shot into his home and was told about his escape by ABC15 News. He said, "I didn't know that...that's good to know...I appreciate that information."

Renwick, Province and McCluskey were all being held in medium security. Ryan said all three escapees were correctly classified and had progressed to medium security, explaining the escape was not related to their security level.

"It is our belief and initial assessment, the escape of these three was the result of staff not paying attention and being lax in the performance of their duties," Ryan said.

Renwick was captured Sunday and placed on a no-hold bond in Rifle, Colorado. Ryan said Renwick will now be charged with escape.

McCluskey and Province remain on the run.
