TUCSON, AZ - The superintendent of the Tucson Unified School District is donating a performance bonus to benefit students.
The district's governing board gave John Pedicone a $35,000 performance bonus this week after renewing his contract.
He says he'll hand it over to the Educational Enrichment Foundation to benefit students with strong leadership and service skills.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Pedicone's contract has been extended through June 30, 2014. He'll be paid $211,000 a year plus benefits and allowances.
Pedicone put the bonus he received last year into the district's general fund.
