TUCSON, AZ - Tucson police say an officer fatally shot a man in a wheelchair who had threatened a man with a gun.

Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer says police got a call from a man at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday saying the man in the wheelchair tried to shoot him.

Arriving officers confronted the man using the wheelchair and told him to put his hands up.

Widmer says the man instead pulled out a gun and an officer fired.

The man died after being taken to a local hospital.

The shooting is being investigated by homicide and internal affairs detectives.

The names of the officer who fired and the dead man have not been released.
