Photos: Giffords staffers in Tucson parade

TUCSON, AZ - U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' office has posted photos on Facebook of staffers attending Thursday's Tucson Rodeo Parade, including two staff members injured in last month's shootings.

Six riderless horses led the 86th annual parade, one for each of the people who died in the Jan. 8 rampage outside a city supermarket.

District Director Ron Barber is seen in one photo sitting in a wheelchair with his wife Nancy standing beside him, along with Giffords staff member Pam Simon and Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup with his wife, Beth.

In another photo, Barber is seen being interviewed by a Tucson TV station crew.

A third photo shows the congresswoman's staff just before the parade begins. Staff members are seen in other photos as they participate in the event that began at 9 a.m.

Thousands of people lined the parade route, which is a traditional celebration of frontier culture that dates back to 1925.

Ron Barber and Pam Simon were both injured in the January 8 shooting outside a Tucson-area Safeway along with 11 others, including Giffords. Six people were killed that day, including a federal judge and a 9-year-old girl.

Giffords continues her recovery in a Houston rehabilitation hospital from a gunshot wound to the head.
