TUCSON, AZ - A man was arrested last week suspected of stealing jewelry from Saddlebrooke homes while working with a cleaning company.
Robert Gilson, 28, was employed by Maid2Clean, a home cleaning service. Pinal County sheriff’s detectives said he was involved in a string of jewelry thefts, after which he would allegedly sell the goods to Tucson pawn shops.
Detectives learned Gilson had made 46 jewelry sales to a single pawn shop between February and April. In total, the detectives tied Gilson to four different burglaries involving the theft of nearly $47,000 in jewelry.
The pawn shops told detectives that Gilson came into the store and claimed a wealthy family member had recently died and he inherited the jewelry.
After Gilson was arrested, he reportedly admitted to the theft of 76 pieces of jewelry from eight different houses. He could face charges of theft and trafficking in stolen property for the burglaries.
Detectives recovered almost $32,000 worth of the jewelry and returned in to its owners.
