TUCSON, AZ - State Sen. Paula Aboud of Tucson announced Monday she is running for the U.S. Congress.
Aboud says she will seek the Democratic nomination in the newly redrawn 2nd Congressional District which covers the majority of Pima County and all of Cochise County.
Aboud released a statement saying she plans to hold a town hall Monday night.
Aboud says she's also backing former Gabrielle Giffords' aide Ron Barber to fill out the remainder of Giffords' term. Barber announced Thursday that he will seek the Democratic nomination in the special election being held this spring.
Barber hasn't said if he'll seek a full two-year term in November.
Others running in District 2 including State Rep. Matt Heinz and State Sen. Frank Antenori.
