TUCSON, AZ - The mother of the youngest victim of the Tucson mass shooting in 2011 says gun control legislation is needed now in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.
Roxanna Green told MSNBC that President Barack Obama and Congress "have to come up with a gun violence protection plan immediately."
She says "today is the time. Right now. We can't wait another minute. So many people are losing their lives."
Nine-year-old Christina-Taylor Green was among six people killed on Jan. 8, 2011, when a gunman opened fire outside a Tucson supermarket where then-Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was holding an event.
Thirteen others were injured including Giffords.
Roxanna Green says people "have to be able to be safe" whether it's at a school, movie theater or grocery store.
