TUCSON, AZ - On Wednesday we heard from family members of two more victims of the Tucson shooting. Both Ron Barber and Pam Simon are still patients at University Medical Center.
"We want to let you know my dad, Ron Barber, is doing well after his second surgery yesterday," said daughter Jenny Douglas.
Barber is the district director for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and while he is healing himself, Douglas said Giffords is at the front of his mind.
"My dad wants to see her, it will help him to see her. I believe they are arranging that. He asks about her everyday," Douglas said
The son of fellow staffer Pam Simon says her thoughts too are with the congresswoman.
"She is a leader this nation needs," said Fritz Simon reading from a statement written by his mother.
The families also gave many thanks.
"To Daniel Hernandez, whose clear thinking and actions in the midst of chaos undoubtedly helped to save Congresswoman Giffords' life," said Douglas.
Ron Barber is expected to be released from the ICU Thursday.
Pam Simon says physically she is healing but added in her statement, "The deeper wounds of needless loss of life, severe injury of co-workers and community members, and the sadness over this act of violence will take much longer to heal."
Both families asked for the continued prayers for Rep. Giffords.
