ARIZONA CITY, AZ - Two men were arrested Tuesday as they tried to flee from deputies after robbing an Arizona City home, according to officials.
Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tim Gaffney said early Tuesday his office received reports from a neighbor who said a suspicious car was parked at a neighbor's home and two individuals were loading items into the vehicle from the residence.
When deputies arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene.
The front door of the home had reportedly been kicked in and it was evident the home had been burglarized.
Officials received a second report of suspicious activity shortly after, in the desert area northeast of Arizona City.
A PCSO deputy was reportedly able to locate the two individuals in the desert area, and as he approached the men, they fled in the vehicle.
According to Gaffney, deputies began a short pursuit before both suspects fled on foot.
Suspect Roy Borrego was reportedly taken into custody after a short foot chase. A second suspect, identified as Joey Sisney, attempted to make his getaway by jumping into the Central Arizona Project canal.
After spending nearly an hour in the canal and traveling almost two miles, Sisney surrendered to officials and deputies took him into custody.
Detectives were able to recover approximately $5,200 in stolen property from the suspects.
Borrego and Sisney were booked into the PCSO detention facility Tuesday on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and theft of means of transportation.
