SUPERIOR, AZ - Authorities have identified a man killed in a two-vehicle crash on the US 60 east of the Valley last night.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Robert Bailey said that around 5:15 p.m. John Halavats Lawrence, 50, of Mesa, was the sole occupant of a passenger car that for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck a westbound pickup truck head on.
Bailey said Lawrence died at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, 53-year-old John Lee Kaltenhauser of Tucson, suffered injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Virginia Kaltenhauser, 58, a passenger in the truck, was flown to a Phoenix hospital as was a 7-year-old boy who was also in the truck. Their conditions are not known.
Bailey said all persons in the crash were reported to be wearing seatbelts.
