STANFIELD, AZ - One man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was killed over the weekend after being ejected from his vehicle during a rollover accident.

Authorities identified the man as 38-year-old Apolinar Galvez-Soto by using his Mexican voter registration card found with him.

At 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified of the accident by a passerby who was delivering newspapers in the area.

Galvez was reportedly driving east on Barnes Road, just west of Fuqua Road in Stanfield, when he drifted toward the edge of the road.

Losing control of the vehicle, Galvez struck an embankment on the side of the roadway, causing his vehicle to roll over, according to a PCSO news release.

His seatbelt was not buckled at the time of the crash, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Excessive speed was not a factor of the accident, but evidence indicates that Galvez may have been alcohol impaired at the time.

Deputies reportedly found both empty and full beer cans at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation and later autopsy results will determine his blood alcohol level.
