STANFIELD, AZ - The Department of Public Safety says shots were fired at officers on Interstate 8 in the area of milepost 147 west of Stanfield Friday morning.
According to DPS no officers were struck.
Officers from DPS, Border Patrol and deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office are searching the area for suspects.
Air15 video shows a heavy law enforcement presence, including 2 helicopters, at a small rest stop along the highway. Also seen is crime scene tape and what appear to be a couple of automatic weapons lying in the desert area.
No further information was immediately available from DPS.
