NOGALES, AZ - Arizona authorities have arrested a Nogales teacher on drug charges after they found nearly 20 pounds of methamphetamine and 12 pounds of cocaine in his car.
State police said Wednesday that they pulled over 32-year-old Ricardo Siqueiros on Tuesday night on Interstate 10 near Eloy after they say he was speeding in a construction zone and following another car too closely.
Police searched his car and found the drugs hidden in a false compartment in the rear floorboard. They're worth an estimated $300,000.
Siqueiros was booked into Pinal County jail on four charges, including transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
He does not yet have an attorney.
Police declined to say whether they think the case has ties to a Mexican drug cartel.
Police say Siqueiros works as a teacher at Mexicayotl Charter School in Nogales.
