MARICOPA, AZ - A Maricopa man was badly beaten in a home invasion early Monday morning, as one of his attackers asked for forgiveness and said he was doing it because he was hungry.
Melquaidas Herreras woke up when three suspects broke in through the front door of his trailer home along McDavid Road.
He was unable to see them but said he heard three distinctly different voices.
Herreras was hit several times in the face with an object. He was transported to the hospital and had to spend the night.
Police said they believe it was Herreras was a randomly chosen target.
They are reportedly looking into another home invasion that happened in Pinal County the same night to see if there is any possibility of a connection.
