MARICOPA, Ariz. - A fundraising dinner was held Saturday night to help with funeral expenses for two boys who drowned in a canal near Maricopa on New Year's Day.
Brothers Calib and Anthony Love and their brother Emmanuel Stower were walking along the canal when Calib fell in and the other two jumped in to save him.
Only Emmanuel was able to get out of the water and run for help. The bodies of 6-year-old Calib and 10-year-old Anthony were recovered by divers hours later.
Their funerals will be held Monday in Chandler.
The spaghetti dinner was held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Villages Clubhouse located at 20991 North Butterfield Parkway in Maricopa.
Donations of any amount were accepted for the dinner that included spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert.
The boys' family has also set up a memorial fund at Wells Fargo to help with funeral expenses. The account number is 1916804667 and has been established as the Love Family Memorial Fund.
