FLORENCE, AZ - Pinal County authorities say a Florence-area man is dead following an accidental shooting involving heavy drinking.
The sheriff's office says 27-year-old Robert DeArman III was fatally shot once in the chest while he and three other friends were drinking Friday night.
According to the sheriff's office, one of the friends had removed a handgun from his backpack to show it to his friends.
The sheriff's office says the trigger was accidentally pulled by one of the men as DeArman handed the gun back to the owner.
Officials say friends immediately called 911 and attempted CPR, but it was too late.
Results of the sheriff's investigation will be submitted to prosecutors for review.
