CASA GRANDE, AZ - It's probably not so smart to punch a police officer, while in jail and have a security camera capture all of it.
Salmineo Romero, 35, was arrested by Casa Grande police on July 14.
Investigators told ABC15 that Romero was picked up for misdemeanor warrants, crimes that aren’t very serious.
During the booking process, when he was having his fingers scanned, a security camera video caught Romero punching an officer directly in the nose.
Officers said the scanning machine was malfunctioning and the officer had to start the process over a couple of times.
About 10 or 15 minutes into it, Romero threw the punch, police said.
It took two other officers and a stun gun to subdue the inmate, according to police.
Romero is now facing an aggravated assault on an officer charge.
He is currently being held in the Pinal County Jail.
