CASA GRANDE, AZ - A man is in custody after allegedly ramming a Pinal County deputy's patrol car after refusing to stop in the city of Casa Grande.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says the deputy tried to stop an older model Chevy Tahoe shortly before midnight Thursday.
The driver, later identified as Rodney Edwin Keeton, 34, refused to stop, leading the deputy on a short chase that came to an end when the Tahoe plowed into a fire hydrant.
A Sheriff's Office spokesman says that as the deputy walked toward the Tahoe, Keeton shifted into reverse and backed toward the deputy, crashing into the patrol vehicle. The deputy then fired his gun at the Tahoe.
As the deputy fired, Keeton took off a second time.
A short time later, deputies located the Tahoe several blocks away, where Keeton was taken into custody.
