ELOY, AZ - Authorities say a young child died in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night on Interstate 10 near Eloy.
Ten vehicles were involved in the collision around 6 p.m. at milepost 226 that forced crews to shut down all westbound lanes in the area, said spokesman Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire/Rescue District.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said one passenger vehicle was engulfed in flames after the collision that occurred due to a dust storm.
Goldberg said the deceased child was trapped in that vehicle. The sex or age of the child is unknown at this time.
Two others with critical injuries were flown to University Medical Center Tucson, and one person with serious injuries was transported there by ground, Goldberg said.
