PCSO: Saul Martinez arrested after pointing stolen handgun at elementary school security guard

STANFIELD, AZ - A man previously deported from the U.S. on three separate occasions was arrested Saturday after pointing a stolen handgun at a Stanfield school security guard.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said that Saturday morning, a security guard at Stanfield Elementary School saw Saul Martinez, 23, behind a locked gate on school property. When the security guard confronted Martinez, he pulled out a .40 caliber handgun and pointed it at the guard, telling him to “back off."

Authorities said the guard went back to his truck and called police. The guard took off to a local gas station and Martinez followed him on foot.

When deputies arrived, they found Martinez sitting between a trash can and a gas pump and arrested him on suspicion of possessing a firearm on school grounds, aggravated assault, trespassing, threats and intimidation.

PCSO said that Martinez is in the country illegally and has already been deported from the U.S. on three separate occasions.
