BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ - Yavapai County Sheriff's detectives continue to investigate after a man was found shot in the head at the Rock Springs Café Gas Station in Black Canyon City early Wednesday morning.
Twenty-year-old Joshua Kamins, from Black Canyon City, is an employee at the gas station, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the victim was found on the floor around 4:30 a.m., bloody and appearing semi-conscious.
EMS personnel treated the victim for a gunshot injury to the head and he was air-lifted to a Phoenix-area hospital.
Kamins is recovering from surgery and detectives are waiting to talk with him.
Detectives do not believe a robbery occurred at the business after the owner completed an inventory of cash and property and found nothing disturbed. There were reportedly no signs of a struggle.
A firearm belonging to Kamins was recovered near where he was lying when deputies arrived.
Detectives spent Wednesday at the business and interviewing family members.
Detectives will release more information once they've had a chance to talk with Kamins.
