I-17 re-opens after hay truck catches fire

BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ - The Department of Public Safety says all lanes of Interstate 17 have reopened after a truckload of hay caught fire Friday.

The highway was closed in both directions north of Black Canyon City, but DPS said at 8:30 p.m. that all lanes had re-opened. Originally it was thought the roadway would be closed until at least 11 p.m.

Officials said the hay fire also started brush fires in the area.

Air15 video showed firefighters working to put out the fire, spreading some of the hay onto the

DPS said northbound traffic was backed up almost 10 miles at one point.
