A huge bombshell is targeting the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Thursday.

In a scathing report, the U.S. Justice Department accuses Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office of using a pattern of discriminatory tactics in its controversial immigration patrols.

Federal authorities have been investigating Arpaio's office since mid-2008 for alleged discrimination, unconstitutional searches and seizures, and for having an English-only policy in his jails that discriminates against people with limited English skills.

The inquiry finds Arpaio's deputies unlawfully target Hispanics during patrols for minor traffic violations based on their skin color so they can ask for proof of citizenship.

No legal action was taken against Sheriff Arpaio, but the Justice Department has made it clear they plan on working closely with the Sheriff's Office in an attempt to address these concerns.

What do you think of this report?

And do you have any ideas on how MCSO can better serve this community?

The Department of Justice has set up a hotline for your thoughts. The number to call 877-613-2137.
