The city of Houston is turning to strip club customers to help pay for rape investigations.
The city council there just overwhelmingly passed an ordinance Wednesday requiring strip clubs to pay a $5-per-visitor fee, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The money will go toward processing evidence collected in rape cases in hopes of identifying their attackers.
Supporters of the bill say it makes sense to have strip club patrons foot part of the bill for rape investigations because the clubs can lead to unhealthy attitudes toward women that can lead to sexual assaults.
The new fee is expected to generate up to $3 million in revenue for the city every year.
