POPLARVILLE, MS - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the death of an Arizona man in the crash of his ultralight aircraft in Mississippi.
Maj. Donnie Saucier with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department tells the Picayune Item that the crash occurred Sunday as 50-year-old Ron Desantis of Tucson Ariz., was flying in the Poplarville area.
Saucier says local investigators believe the accident occurred as Desantis flew too low, clipping a pine tree that caused his plane to crash to the ground. Desantis was dead on arrival at Pearl River County Hospital.
Saucier says no one else was in the plane and no injuries were reported on the ground.
