PORTLAND, CT - Connecticut shelter dog, Duke, may have found the most miraculous way to thank the family that adopted him six years ago- by saving their newborn baby.
ABC News reports that 9-week-old Harper had stopped breathing overnight while her parents were asleep.
Duke, an "insanely obedient dog," as his owners would call him, jumped into bed with them and began shaking uncontrollably.

The couple wasn't sure why Duke was behaving so oddly, but they decided to check on their baby just in case.
As it turns out, Harper had stopped breathing and doctors presume that it could have been caused by acid reflux.
Duke appeared to have jumped into bed to alert Harper's parents that something was wrong with her.
The baby's mother told ABC News Duke is the perfect dog who was meant to be theirs.
ABC News also reports that the baby is doing well now thanks to their loyal, quick-thinking pet.
