Police say two 13-year-old boys stole a parent's BMW in Ohio this weekend and drove it hundreds of miles to Kansas City, Mo., where they were found sleeping in it in an alley.

Kansas City police say the runaways from Columbus were taken into custody Monday by officers investigating a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the BMW.

Capt. Steve Young says police in Missouri knew the boys might pass through the area because of information posted to Facebook.

A mother of one of the boys says he had wanted to go to California and she believes they were headed there.

Police say the boys were turned over to the Jackson County Family Court. Arrangements are being made for them to return to Ohio.
