BROOMFIELD, CO - Jessica's Run and candlelight vigil on Tuesday will honor murder victim Jessica Ridgeway and give the community a way to come together.
Ridgeway disappeared Oct. 5 as she was walking to meet up with friends at Chelsea Park in Westminster so they could all walk to school together. Her friends said she never showed up.
After a massive search involving hundreds of volunteers Ridgeway's body was found in an Arvada open space park on Oct. 10.
Organizers created Tuesday night's run as a way to blow off some steam.
"If you are like me, you feel anger and sadness and confusion and frustration," said one organizer. "Join us to blow off some steam and supply a strong shoulder and unified front."
The run will be held at 6 p.m. at Siena Reservoir in Anthem Park. That's at Lowell Boulevard and Sheridan Parkway in Broomfield, just off Northwest Parkway.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear white T-Shirts. Sharpies will be available at the park so runners and walkers can personalize their shirts.
Organizers also want to show support to Ridgeway's family by holding a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m.
"Although no one will truly know the horrible loss that her family has suffered -- we can show that we care," organizers said. "We can show that we are all connected, and we are all affected by what happens to our families on our streets."
