Triple A said the average price of gasoline will surpass $3 per gallon Tuesday for the 1,000th consecutive day.
The group forecast another thousand days of similar prices, barring a major economic recession.
The streak began Dec. 23, 2010. Monday’s national average reached $3.52 a gallon. Average prices have remained above $3.50 a gallon for most of the past 1,000 days.
According to AAA, last year fuel was the most expensive year on record, with gasoline averaging $3.60 a gallon.
