A 28-year-old woman has developed an unknown condition where fingernails grow from the hair follicles all over her body, according to a Thursday report.
Good Morning America said Shanyna Isom, a beautician and former law student in Memphis, is unable to walk without a cane and has no idea what is wrong with her.
Doctors treating her at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Maryland reportedly said Isom is the only person in the world with the condition.
Isom said in a blog she was a healthy woman a couple years ago, but now her body has scabs all over it and she has dropped 200 pounds.

Her bones and vision have also reportedly been affected.
Isom’s mother said black scabs were growing out of her daughter’s skin and the nails would grow long, come out, and grow again, according to the article.
Doctors reportedly said Isom was producing 12 times the number of skin cells in each hair follicle and believe her skin isn’t getting enough oxygen or vitamins.
She is improving with treatment. Read more.
