SACRAMENTO, CA - A bullet was found on a passenger jet at Sacramento International Airport, but no weapon was discovered.
A flight attendant found the bullet, which had not been fired, on the floor of Southwest Airlines Flight 212 after it arrived Wednesday from Phoenix.
Transportation Security Administration spokesman Nico Melendez said the pilot asked for the plane to be searched before passengers boarded for a flight to Portland. Nothing else was found.
The discovery came hours after security screeners in Sacramento found a handgun and bullets in the carry-on luggage of a passenger who was preparing to board another Southwest flight.
The passenger told authorities he had a permit but forgot the weapon was in the bag.
Agents kept the weapon, but the passenger was allowed to board the flight to Burbank.
