There's a battle against corporal punishment in Texas.
Good Morning America reports that at Springtown High School near Fort Worth, one student chose to be paddled for punishment for allowing another student to copy her homework.
The school says administrators followed Texas law but in fact the vice-principal violated school rules that state spanking of a student can only be done by an employee of the same sex.
The spanking was administered by a man.
Paddling at public schools has been outlawed in 31 states but is still allowed in 19 states.
So we're wondering, should spanking or paddling be outlawed in all 50 states? Or should it still be allowed female school officials allowed to paddle female students and male school officials punishing male students.
We asked the question on Facebook and most of you were emphatic about no spanking.
Sandra Angulo said, " No!!! Someone hits my kid its on.."
Emily Clark believes only parents should spank their kids.
" With the way the world is now you never know whats going through the teachers mind," Clark wrote.
But Joe Harrel II said it was OK, as long as it was a male spanking a boy and female spanking a female student.
Mady Polsky wrote, " No one should hit any child's bottom for any reason. That will not teach a child anything except deep seeded resentment and violence."
