TAMPA, Fla. - A burglary suspect tried to fake his way out of the crime Wednesday morning, but police say the ruse didn't work.
Tampa Police officers were dispatched to the Palmetto Beach Athletic Club after an alarm went off.
Officers arrived on the scene at 2007 Stuart Street around 5 a.m. and found the suspect, Enrique Lebron, still in the building. He jumped out of a window and took off running.
An officer zapped Lebron with a taser. But when he fell, the taser's prongs lost contact and he was able to get away. An extensive foot pursuit followed.
Officers eventually caught up with Lebron at his own home at 2019 East Harper Street where he had changed his shorts and hopped in bed, according to a police report.
Lebron, 42, was arrested without further incident.
He faces a number of charges, including burglary.
