ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Everybody seems to love photos. St. Petersburg photographer, Brian James, knows this better than anyone.
“People want to see pictures anytime, pictures move us, they document history they show you moments and emotion,” said James.
James takes headshots for business professionals, but his love is shooting fashion. We caught up with him during a model photo-shoot in downtown St. Petersburg. He said are models especially easy to shoot, but even they have to warm up to the camera.
“They don’t come in right off the bat and just rock it out they have to get comfortable, everybody warms up, I wouldn’t say there is a non-photogenic person,” said James.
James said his business is especially full of clients who want pictures to put on the internet. He suggests putting a photo of yourself on the web is important if you’re looking to own a business or work with clients.
“It’s good to have a web presence, people want to relate to you they want to see a picture they want to know what you look like,” said James.
James shared a few tips with us on how to take the perfect picture.
1. The best time of the day to take a photo is in the early morning or during sunset.
2. Use the sun as your lighting, not your backdrop.
3. Shift your weight to your back foot (this will make you look slimmer).
