LOS ANGELES - Friday was announced as “Shave the Date: Movember 1st,” as an effort to promote awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, a news release from Movember.com says.
Though September was National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the company promotes awareness and raises funds during November in a unique way.
Mo Bros, men who are involved in Movember, shave their face November 1st and grow a mustache for the next 30 days, the release says.
This creates needed awareness and support through fundraising.
Anyone can participate, all you need to do is go online to Movember.com , register and then you can recruit friends and family to donate to the cause.
“Movember aims to forever change the face of men’s health through the power of the mustache,” the release says.
The programs focus on awareness and education, the release says. Participants have raised more than $446 million which funds over 570 programs around the world.
