The National Weather Service staff in Anchorage, Alaska made a splash on social media Friday by posting a weather forecast with a secret code pertaining to the government shutdown.
The 5 a.m. forecast for south-central and southwest Alaska aligned specific words along the far left margin to spell out “PLEASE PAY US."
As a plea for help after the shutdown, many news agencies found humor in what some called a “ sassy ” statement.
A revised version with specific words exchanged to scramble the message was posted on the National Weather Service website within the hour.
